CAE systems involved in every stage of product life cycle mainly uses the product data produced by the CAD systems and integrated manufacturing data produced by CAPP and CAM systems. As the degree of automation and CAD\/CAM integration increases, the inclusion of high level information with the product data and its seamless flow in CAD-CAM-CNC chain becomes a necessity. The objective of this work is to develop a Computer Aided Process Planning system for rotational parts using ISO 10303 standard STEP AP224 data exchange file, enabling the inclusion of high level information about the product besides geometry.
