ABSTRACT
Impact of the Diksha App as an electronic resource in the English Language Teaching Learning AndhraPradesh.
NEP-2020 Para 23.6 highlights the integration of technology-based education platforms, such as Diksha,
throughout school and higher education institutions for the use of e-contents in teaching and learning processes,
as well as the use of this platform for teachers' professional development. The NEP-2020 also stresses tech-
savvy instructors. Diksha is a platform for training both teachers and students, as well as a valuable resource for
the English language teaching and learning process. The researcher conducted a case study to determine how
useful the Diksha app is as a teaching and learning tool. The questionnaire was implemented using a Google
form, and the data acquired from English teachers across Andhra Pradesh was analyzed qualitatively and
quantitatively. This practical study also identifies the various drawbacks and limits of the Diksha App as an
English Language Teaching and Learning tool. The results and discussion demonstrate some favorable
implications for different stakeholders on the utilization of Diksha App in the English language teaching learning
process.

INTRODUCTION
Languages are not static. As language components change throughout time, so should language education
theories and techniques.
@ How do I teach a language in an easy and successful manner?
This must be the most commonly asked question among language teachers.
@ What is the best technique to teach a language that does not have a one-line answer?
Various scientific advancements have made our lifestyle distinct from age-old habits.Human aspirations have
evolved in response to globalization. In line with NEP-2020 Para 23.7, "our present education system's inability
to cope with this rapid and disruptive changes places us individually and nationally at a perilous disadvantage in
an increasingly competitive world"[1].
NEP-2020 Para 23.2 goes on to say: "Given the explosive pace of technological development allied with the
sheer creativity of tech-savvy teachers and entrepreneurs including student entrepreneurs, it is certain that
technology will impact education in multiple ways, only some of which can be foreseen at the present time"[2].
Technology is the need of the hour. Language teachers should therefore be technologically competent.
According to Nep 2020 Para 24.4.C, "appropriate existing e-learning platforms such as SWAYAM and DIKSHA
will be extended to provide teachers with a structured, user-friendly, and rich set of assistive tools for monitoring
learners' progress." The pandemic has demonstrated the importance of tools such as two-way video and two-
way audio interfaces for holding online classes" [3]. Different pilot initiatives are now underway in Andhra
Pradesh based on various NEP-2020 propagandas. Organizing various training programs, such as the National
Page 4272
endeavor for School Heads' and Teachers' Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA, NISHTHA 2.0), through the
Diksha app is one such pilot endeavor. Because the Diksha app is jam-packed with learning tools, teachers use
it extensively in their classrooms. The Diksha app, when used properly in English language instruction, can make
the learning process more successful, long-lasting, and engaging. The purpose of this article is to depict the
various parts of the Diksha app in the English language teaching learning process, as well as to demonstrate the
platform's effectiveness.
BACKGROUND STUDY OF DIKSHA APP:
"The Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing (DIKSHA) is a National Platform for School Education that
benefits instructors and students across India. DIKSHA is a project of the National Council for Educational
Research and Training (NCERT) (Ministry of Education, Government of India)" [2]. Teachers, students, and
parents can access interesting learning materials related to the required school curriculum through the Diksha
platform.Diksha is offered as a mobile app and a web platform. Diksha is a smartphone app that can be
downloaded from the Play Store. Diksha can also be accessed as a web platform via its website. Users can use
as they choose. According to the National Portal of India, "DIKSHA will serve as National Digital Infrastructure
for Teachers." All teachers around the country will have access to innovative digital technology. The Diksha
portal will facilitate, accelerate, and magnify solutions for teacher education. It will help teachers learn and
prepare for the assessment resources that will be accessible. It will assist teachers in creating training content,
profiles, and in-class tools. Diksha is offered as a mobile app and a web platform.
As stated on Diksha's official website, this "platform provides-
a. Teacher training courses (example: training on learning outcomes, CCE, etc.)
b. Curriculum-mapped teaching tools, including lesson plans, concept videos, and worksheets c. Teacher
assessments to identify strengths and areas for growth.
Teachers will be able to access this content offline on their smartphones, tablets, and other devices at any time
and from any location. Material will be contextualized in local languages and matched to the curriculum." [3].
Secondary Level Education in Andhra Pradesh
In recent years, Andhra Pradesh has seen a significant shift in educational priorities. The introduction of the
National Education Policy (NEP) and a growing awareness among parents and schools have highlighted the
value of Secondary Level Education in shaping well-rounded.
Holistic Development: Secondary Level Education focuses on the overall growth of students — physically,
mentally, and socially.
Skill Building: It encourages teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and discipline — skills essential for life
beyond school.
Health & Well-being: Especially post-pandemic, schools in Andhra Pradesh are emphasizing the importance
of fitness, sports, and emotional health.
Academic Balance: Integrating Secondary Level Education within the curriculum helps students perform better
academically by improving focus and confidence.
Whether it’s Physical Education in Andhra Pradesh promoting healthy lifestyles or Secondary Level Education
in Andhra Pradesh focusing on academic excellence with life skills, the ultimate goal is the same — to nurture
competent, confident, and creative learners.

It is clear from a detailed examination of the numerical data that English language instructors use the Diksha
app extensively. The Diksha app is used in English language classrooms by over 80% of secondary school
English Teachers, who strongly advise their pupils to utilize it. Nearly 98% of secondary school teachers have
already finished courses like NISHTHA, experiential learning, and competency-based learning, and a sizable
portion of teachers voluntarily enroll in NEP-2020 recommended courses given through Diksha. Thus, it is clear
that Diksha is a crucial venue for teachers' capacity building. Over 70% of educators utilize the Diksha App's
resources to teach vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening, reading, and writing. It is clear from the data
gathered that pupils benefit much from engaging grammar activities.
The Program for International Students Assessment (PISA) is one of the prestigious exams that for students.
Teachers and students can access highly effective materials that enhance students' critical and creative thinking.
Based on the data gathered, it is clear that Diksha's video notes are highly popular, but PDF and audio notes are
also utilized in tandem. All of these resources are very helpful for students' self-study, so individual learning
differences are addressed. After examining the answers to the questions, some intriguing teachers are preparing
its students for exams such as the Program for International Students Assessment (PISA) and providing them
with resources to improve their critical and creative thinking.
After examining the answers to the open-ended questions, some intriguing information emerged. Diksha is quite
well-liked among English teachers and students, but it has certain drawbacks. When utilizing the Diksha app,
English teachers reported Sometimes it hangs, asks for frequent updates, and other times it takes a long time to
update the profile. Other times it displays a technical fault when downloading documents. Additionally,
educators recommended improving this app's usability.
Instructors recommended more text-based
recommendations. Some demanded that there be more interactive workbooks and multiple-choice questions.
Teachers can observe improvements in the classroom whenever they utilize the Diksha app.
The majority of students use Diksha materials as a self-learning tool, there is increased student interaction, and
students score higher on examinations after using these resources. Different television advertisements,
workshops, and parent-teacher conferences should be used to enhance student and parent participation. Students
should participate in a hands-on workshop on several techniques for making better use of this program.
Employers ought to prioritize the certificate programs offered by the Diksha app for students' capacity building.
Page 4276
Ultimately, the educators came to the conclusion that Diksha might be a more beneficial and successful platform
in the future for instructors' and students' capacity building in particular subject areas and as well as some hand
on training on AI, CBE etc.
Limitations of the study
This study has the following limitations:
a. Limitated to Andhra Pradesh schools only.
b. Limitated to English teaching learning process only.
c. Limitated to Secondary school teachers only.
Scope for further studies
Further studies can be done on the following areas:
a. Study on the use of Diksha app on other subjects such as Math, Science, and Other Languages.
b. Studies on the use of Diksha app by the Central board teachers.
CONCLUSION OF THE STUDY
Diksha is a fantastic software that offers a wealth of materials for teaching English. The Diksha app attempts to
provide users with a real-world experience while avoiding the drawbacks of traditional English language
instruction. The Diksha app enhances and increases the efficacy of instruction both within and outside of the
classroom. When used properly, this program allows users to avoid traditional, tedious teaching and learning
activities with some rapid results-based assessments. Simultaneously, this app enhances the quality of classroom
education and guarantees professionalism with top-notch materials.
We can anticipate that educators, particularly English professors, will utilize the Diksha app to its fullest potential
at this point. Due to the current globalized environment, it is imperative that educators abandon traditional
teaching methods and include digital tools into their lesson plans. It is also clear that while promising learners
may readily access the self-learning resources from this program, slow learners can benefit immensely from it.
The job of a language teacher is extremely difficult because language is dynamic and changes with time,
scientific advancements, and the introduction of technology into the classroom.
The challenge of techno pedagogy should be embraced by all language instructors. The Diksha app can be an
excellent tool for the language instructor's ongoing self-training and knowledge base updates. It offers all the
most recent courses from many well-known organizations, like CBSE, NITTTR, and others, to provide teachers
and students with free certification and to equip them with current trends and self-learning and development.
The Diksha technical team should improve the app's content to make it easier to use. This app should be
promoted by policymakers, and its use should receive a lot more attention. Teachers should educate parents and
kids about the advantages and applications of this software, particularly language instructors. The data analysis
demonstrates that the overall English teaching learning process and experience would be more effective and
long-lasting if language teachers put aside the app's minor limitations and drawbacks and more voluntarily use
it in their language classes for capacity building.
