ABSTRACT
Teacher's Day is an important and dedicated day especially dedicated to teachers. The day recognizes the
importance of education and provides an opportunity to support the teachers' union. On this day, students and
the community also get an opportunity to express their gratitude towards teachers. 5th September is celebrated
as Teacher's Day all over the country. It is the teacher who nurtures values, culture, and qualities. On Teacher's
Day, a cultured child takes blessings from the teacher and asks for good wishes. The teacher also bestows
blessings with a pure heart. The relationship between teacher and disciple becomes stronger. Remember them
throughout life. Today's education is good for livelihood but not for human development. The teacher can also
elaborate on the topic with examples from his life. Unless the teacher is involved in the life of the student, the
objectives of education cannot be achieved. Today only teachers can improve many problems of the society.
The excitement of this day increases the importance of education socially and gives an opportunity to the
students to feel appreciation and gratitude towards their teachers. This day is a good medium to maintain
strong teacher-student relationship. Teachers Day even reminds students that education is the key to progress
and prosperity in the society and teachers have an important contribution in it. Along with this, teachers are
also honoured for their hardships and hard work.
Key words: craftsman, best citizen, path pavesman, great work
INTRODUCTION
The meaning of teacher is not only to give; the meaning of teacher is also to take. The more we learn from
books, internet, environment, experiences and dialogue, the better teachers we will be able to become. Dr.
Radhakrishnan had immense devotion towards Indian culture. He continuously tried to take India to the
horizon in the field of education. Dr. Radhakrishnan, who dedicated his birthday as Teacher's Day, had
immense respect for teachers in his heart. Even if a person receives education throughout his life, some chapter
of education remains incomplete. But the teacher who is called the nation builder of India wants to see his
image in his disciple. A teacher is one who can build the character of the country as per his wish. To be able to
pass on the values of our country to the future generations of the country. Education is meaningful only if it
can create a characterful society and positive thinking for the country. In the education that was being given in
India till now, India's values were ridiculed and foreigners were praised. Such foreigners were also included in
this, who left no stone unturned to destroy Indianness. By reading such characters, today's generation is
moving away from the values of India. But the teachers of our country should also understand what education
should be given to the students. Education is very precious and valuable. Due to which the student not only
expands his own knowledge but also strengthens the country. Dr. Radhakrishnan, in his book Political Thinker
of Modern India, has explained the importance of teachers and education in a democratic country like India.
According to Dr. Radhakrishnan, teachers play an important role in the building of the country and because of
this they deserve more respect. In India, since ancient times, the relationship between Guru and disciple has
been full of the spirit of dedication. Guru shapes the future of the country. The present generation is the future
of the country. The character of the country will be shaped by the values that the Guru imparts to the young
generation. Teachers are the backbone of every person's life. It is the teacher who teaches the new meaning of
life to the students. They show us the right path and prevent us from doing anything wrong. They can see from
outside. They care about each student and wish for their growth. Do not forget the student who does not

respect his teachers. He never moves ahead in life. Teachers Mold the personality of the student. He is the only
selfless person who happily gives all his knowledge to children. Teachers are the real architects of students'
lives who not only shape our lives. Rather, it makes us capable of continuing to burn like light even when there
is darkness in the entire world. Teacher is like a lighthouse in the society. Who leads his disciples from
darkness to light by showing them the right path. The light spread by the knowledge of teachers is visible from
a distance. Because of this, our nation is being illuminated by many lighthouses. That is why teachers are
respected in the country. Teacher's Day is a great occasion to strengthen the relationship between teacher and
student. The great aim of education is knowledge and action. Here knowledge means theoretical education and
karma means practical education. In India, the Gurukul education system based on Guru-disciple tradition has
been very popular since ancient times, under which both theoretical and practical education of knowledge and
skills of the world of life was given simultaneously to the disciples by the Guru. There are many such skilled
works in this country where even today this method is traditionally maintaining its existence in worldly
education, which is a matter of pride for the knowledgeable and virtuous people. But the irony was that during
the colonial period, the British officer Lord Macaulay developed the modern education system as an alternative
to the Gurukul education system, providing diverse knowledge and skills through schools, colleges,
universities, technical education and research institutes. Different types of degrees started being distributed and
employment started becoming available through them. In this way the modern education system shook the
foundation of the Gurukul education system. The irony is that the modern education system has become more
expensive and time-consuming year by year. Due to this, esoteric knowledge got confused, which increased
unemployment among people with no merit but having degrees. In old times, teachers were respected by
touching their feet. But in today's time both teachers and students have changed. Earlier, teaching was not a
profession but an act of enthusiasm and hobby. But now it has become just a means of earning a living.
Teachers play a very important role in a person's life. Apart from being a guide, mentor, friend, a teacher plays
many other roles. It depends on the student how he defines his teacher. Saint Tulsi Das has explained it very
well in the lines below.
“The feeling remained the same, the idol of God looked the same
Saint Tulsi Das

has said that God and Guru will appear to a person as he thinks. For example, Arjun
considered Lord Krishna as his friend. The same Meera Bai made Lord Krishna her lover. In the same way it
applies to the teacher also. That is why it is said that a teacher is the guide of the society. In present times, the
respect of teachers in the society has started decreasing. The bad actions of many teachers have made them fall
from the eyes of the society. The sacred work of teaching is getting defamed due to the nefarious activities
done by the teachers with the students in schools and colleges. In the present era, disciples are also no less.
Due to indiscipline of students, the educational environment in schools and colleges is deteriorating. Guru-
disciple will have to understand each other's feelings and light the flame of knowledge together. The biggest
strength of any nation and society is the teacher class. The relevance, necessity and utility of this class can
never end. The huge responsibility of building the future of the nation rests on the shoulders of this class. If
there is even the slightest mistake in this responsibility, then the foundation of building society remains hollow.
In the present times, the role of the teacher may have changed, but his importance and responsibility of
personality-building has become more relevant. Because without the development of all-round ability, it is
extremely difficult to move with the times and maintain oneself. Only steel-like determination and the ability
to do everything can enhance personality. Only teachers create such personalities. According to Swami
Vivekananda, all-round development means big in heart, high in mind and great in action
2
. In the ancient
education system of India, teachers and gurus used to try to refine and develop conduct, values, behaviour and
thoughts for the development of all-round personality. Whereas Macaulay's education has been making the
students sick in body, mind, intellect, and character and making them mere
money earning machines, uncultured and decadent. Even though the country got physical independence
through political struggle, the shackles of mental-intellectual-emotional dependence have strengthened in the
last seven and a half decades. Now Narendra Modi government has announced a new education policy to
remove these shortcomings and incompleteness of education and in it,

considering the responsibility of
teachers as important, they have been given the responsibility of creating responsible, moral-characterful

citizens. Explaining the greatness of a teacher in the hymn of Rigveda, it is said “O Acharya, the master of
knowledge and opulence! You are a well-wisher like a father and a master of wisdom, so educate us
completely.''
4
J. The criteria of a true teacher presented by Krishna murti reveal the greatness of his
personality - "A true teacher is rich from within; hence he does not want anything for himself, he is not
ambitious, he does not seek position or power in his teaching.
5
Does not create a means to achieve. True
culture is not based on engineers and technicians, but on teachers. Now teachers and education policy have
moved towards a revolutionary change. The real goal of teachers and education will now be achieved. In the
words of Acharya Maha Pragya - 'The task of personality-building is very difficult. Only a selfless and
conscious teacher can create another personality.'
6
Recently you saw the passion of a teacher in the film Super-
30. In this film Prof. Anand's education movement has been presented effectively. Now, with the new
education policy, such revolutionary education initiatives can be seen everywhere, only then this newly
announced education policy has relevance. Despite numerous specialties, till now the post of teacher was
blurred. As Mahatma Gandhi had said If one school is opened, a hundred jails will be closed. But the
opposite has been happening. With the increase in the number of schools, the space in jails has become
smaller. The number of jails is also increasing in the same proportion. It is clear that Macaulay's education
system and teachers are also responsible to some extent for the increase in violence and crimes. The educated
and intelligent have been committing more crimes than the uneducated and foolish. The attitude of narrow-
mindedness and jealousy is also a major reason for the incidents of tension, conflict and disintegration that
have been occurring in family and social life. Personality conflict has also increased due to this reason. What is
the reason that despite such errors in creating the new generation, the governments remained in Kumbhakarni
sleep? Why are teachers not able to create a generation with all-round qualities? The reason for this is corrupt
political thinking. Man has made amazing progress in knowledge and science. But there has been a decrease in
respect for one's own life and that of others. There were many revolutions in thought, but there were very few
revolutionary changes at the level of conduct. There is a lot of talk in the world about peace, non-violence, and
human rights, but the lack of proper conduct is glaring. Now the new education policy will lead to the
emergence of right character, right thinking and right conduct. This brilliant quote of Dr. Kalam is still
echoing in the mind of every person. Propounding the importance of education, famous educationist Dr. A. S.
Altekar has written “Education is such a source of light and power, which changes our nature and
makes it excellent by continuously harmoniously developing our physical, mental, material and spiritual
powers and abilities.”
7
But we have forgotten these features of the ancient education system. In the education
system that has been running since independence, schools had become a business rather than a mission. With a
view to remove this big discrepancy, extensive brainstorming has been done in the current education policy.
Work on 'same teachers and same education' policy has started in the entire country. According to Dr.
Radhakrishnan, teachers play an important role in the building of the nation and that is why they deserve
more respect.' There are possibilities in the new education policy that the role of teachers in building the nation
will become more effective. Now the real goal of making humans capable, nation-building, and characterful
will be achieved through education.
8
Like other arts, teaching is also an important art, a teacher is like an artist
who carves a rough stone and gives it the form of a worship able statue. At present a lot of research is being
done on teaching skills and teaching methods. Dr. Zakir Hussain has considered the teacher as an
embodiment of love, tolerance and sacrifice. Western educationist John Dewey, in his book 'Education of
Today', has written while clarifying the importance of the teacher - "The teacher is always the prophet of
God for the child, who is the one who will usher in the true kingdom of God."
9
Like a creator, a teacher
tries to fill the void created by the society by building the future generation of the society. If his responsibility
is lacking then he cannot be considered forgivable. Teacher's Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm
throughout the country. Since ancient times, gurus have played a major role in the lives of children. We can
reach the pinnacle of success only with the knowledge and guidance received from gurus. Teacher's Day is
dedicated to all teachers and gurus. Teachers are honoured on this day. Teacher's Day in India is a celebration
and occasion to pay respect and gratitude towards teachers. They teach us to face adverse situations in life. The
role of a teacher in life is very special, they are like the background music in one's life, whose presence is not
visible on the stage, but their presence brings life to the drama. Similarly, a teacher also plays a role in our life.
No matter what stage of life you are in, everyone needs a teacher.
To make the teacher's teaching interesting

Do child-centric teaching Before teaching, there should be complete knowledge of the child, his general
life, his socio-economic status, his capacity, his ability, his communication style etc. Just like you have
knowledge about your child, similarly you should have knowledge about your student.
10
Art integrated learning- In teaching, efforts should be made to make classroom teaching attractive through
art like pictures, songs, music, dance, drama, stories, toys, singing, musical instruments, puzzles etc.
Teaching through play The process by which children feel pleasure is play teaching. Instead of the essence
of fighting knowledge, now there should be essence of sports knowledge. Sports knowledge should be the
essence of entertainment knowledge.
11
Teacher is a craftsman A teacher is a craftsman. He tries to make the abstract tangible, the invisible visible
and the unimaginable conceivable. A teacher is not just there to give degrees, marks sheets, marksheets and
certificates but is also an expert in life. Teacher is personality builder, life builder and future builder. Just as a
great craftsman can carve any stone and make it visible in a statue, beautiful art, etc. Just as a potter can make
various types of beautiful utensils like kulhar, thali, matki, glass and cup etc. from wet clay, in the same way, a
teacher, through his knowledge and experience, teaches students the best work of making abstract ideas
tangible and invisible things visible. He takes care of the children in such a way that in future the children can
do the work of decorating and maintaining their country, society, and family.
Foundation stone- Just as a grand building rest on its foundation. The stronger the foundation, the huger
buildings can be built on it. Similarly, the stronger the foundation of education for a child, the more buildings
for education and life can be built. He prepares today's children for the future. Those children are the ones who
will take care of their family, society, and country in the future. He works for the country as he is filled with
values, qualities, and thoughts.
To make a better citizen A teacher makes a beautiful, civilized and citizen of a better society. By providing
good education, the teacher works to inculcate the qualities and traits of the best citizens so that those children
do not forget the qualities of humanity even after getting a job at any post. With the knowledge, experience and
education provided by the teacher, they can become administrative officers, teachers, doctors, Engineer,
Lawyer etc. posts. After attaining those positions, he serves the society, nation, and country.
The feeling of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam The teacher is imbued with the feeling of Vasudhaiva
Kutumbakam. Vasudhaiva imbues the child with the feelings of Kutumbakam through various co-curricular
activities and curriculum. He fills the seeds of his culture, values and civilization in the mind and brain of the
child. Those seeds act as trees and provide shade to the society. If a teacher has sown mango seeds in a child,
then that child will also give mango fruits, if the teacher has sown neem seeds, then it will give bitter fruits.
Just as a teacher sows the seeds of thoughts in the mind of a child, in the same way he hands over these
thoughts to the society in the future.
Eliminate distortions and evils - Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan believed that if one can remove the
distortions, evils, and shortcomings of the society, then only he is a teacher.
12
Through his explanations,
explanations, examples, contexts, stories, inspiration etc., the teacher can create a picture of the distortions and
evils of the society in the child's mind and eliminate them by sowing the seeds of hatred, hatred, and negativity
towards them. Environment, conservation, cleanliness, health, nutrition, ideal citizen etc. Providing education
on current affairs to students can pave the way for taking the society in the right direction. Providing
knowledge about life's difficulties, challenges and how to solve problems etc. enlightens the society. Explains
various activities and explains ways to remove the evils, ostentation and customs spreading in the society. Dr.
Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan ji says that teachers make children laugh, tickle, make them happy and entertain
them If education is provided then children and society can be made healthy and pure. They make difficult
subjects like philosophy simple through dialogue, logic, discussion, and deliberation. There are many
dimensions of innovation in education through which even complex, deep, and subtle subjects can be imparted
knowledge in a simple, accurate, and clear manner. If teachers consider education as a mission and work
towards it with dedication and devotion, then they can enlighten the society.

Best Guidance- Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan believes that a teacher can show the path through his best
conduct, behaviour, decency, greetings, humility, and exemplary actions.
13
The child behaves as the teacher
does. Teacher is the guide of the society; he works to provide direction to the society through the students. By
narrating, showing, teaching, and making the child learn new ideas every day, he becomes aware, conscious,
and reflective. He presents an unmatched tale of passion, passion, and emotions.
Teaching the best path makes the teacher aware of the path of truth. Teacher: The art of living is personality
development, self-reliance, professional proficiency, development of skills and abilities, purity of conduct,
prevention of weaknesses, free from darkness, illuminated with the light of knowledge, love of nature,
development of human qualities, life with enthusiasm and enthusiasm. It informs about the ways of being
perfect, getting rid of sorrows, staying away from evils, positive thinking, lifestyle, eating habits, getting up,
sitting, speaking, and walking etc.
Qualities of a good teacher - A good teacher is the one whose disciple achieves fame in a particular field and
makes him competent and capable. Know the weaknesses and shortcomings of the student and remove them.
Suppose he wants to develop speaking skills in English language then teach him that. Try to fulfil his
aspirations and wishes in the field of knowledge, make him aware of the situation under his direction, he
should praise his teacher in solving every problem, make him efficient in solving the problems that come in
life. The teacher has the following responsibilities towards his pupil-
Enhance knowledge.
Strengthen with conduct and values.
Remove its weaknesses and shortcomings.
Make moral and characterful.
Be a problem solver.
Make self-reliant.
Teach the art of living life.
The teacher, with his knowledge and experience, teaches the disciple to make a statue from rough stone, make
an engine from iron material, make a door from wood.
Making the intellect intelligent - The teacher makes the intellect of the disciple intelligent with his
knowledge. He keeps purifying the consciousness and soul with new programs, new subjects, new materials.
Activities enlighten the intellect.
Paves the way for the future - The teacher paves the way for him to become a doctor, engineer,
administrative officer, lawyer, judge, and teacher. It is the teacher who guides them as to what they can become
in the future on the basis of their ability, proficiency and potential.
14
Establishing the disciple in the heart Enters the disciple in the heart. Teacher and disciple become one in
feelings and thoughts. The teacher tries to find out and resolve the weaknesses in the student's heart.
Making the intangible tangible - It is the teacher who makes the invisible visible, the indirect into visible,
and reveals ignorance into knowledge.
To do other work - He takes a wheel in his hand and works to develop the qualities of a human being. He
works to create soldiers, become guards on the border, make the country aware and solve challenges. Because
of this excellent work everyone respects him.

Respect - In ancient times, there was a feeling of respect and honour towards the teacher and student. This is
decreasing among today's students because today the teacher does not have contact with the student's family
members. Due to the large number of students, he is unable to communicate. Earlier the number was less so
that he could keep track of each student.
Exemplary by the student - If you meet a teacher anywhere, first greet him with folded hands with a smile,
then convey your views, if you leave your studies, if you must go to that institute, then try to meet all the
teachers, at least Be sure to meet that teacher who has made a special contribution in your life. When you go to
meet someone, the first thing you should do is bow down and respect them. Due to this behaviour of yours, the
teacher has a feeling of respect for you. If you have the qualities of courtesy, politeness, decency, sweetness,
true tolerance, and patience, then you will have minimal problems.
CONCLUSION
Teachers teach children morals, behaviour, and values along with studies. They work to make people self-
reliant and self-reliant. The teacher nurtures life by teaching life style, life values and life sciences. The
classroom always reminds me of that. Illuminates the disciple through his behaviour, talk, thoughts, thinking
and contemplation. By studying as a teacher, one became a big officer, attained positions, all this is the
development of the qualities of a teacher. The inspiration to celebrate Teacher's Day has also come from a
teacher. Solves every problem, problem, and difficulty of the disciple.
Gave us a wealth of knowledge prepared us for the future We are grateful to those teachers We are
extremely grateful for what we did”
