Professor J P N Mishra obtained his Ph.D. degree in Zoology (Physiology) from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi in 1982, on the thesis titled “Studies on the Regeneration of kidney” in 1982. He joined School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi as Post-doctorate fellow. In 1983 Professor Mishra joined Dept. of Physiology, All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi as UGC Research Scientist and worked there till October 1991. Currently, Prof Mishra is working as Professor and Dean, School of Life Sciences, Central University of Gujarat, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Prof J P N Mishra has a long experience of 33 years teaching and 36 years research. 21 students have got a Ph.D. degree in his supervision. He has published 11 books and 63 research paper of high standard along with more than 100 popular scientific articles to his credit. He has attended more than 150 International/National seminars/conference/workshops as an Invited Speaker, Resource Person, and Chairperson. Prof Mishra has traveled several countries Like China, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Italy, and the USA to deliver lectures on Human Physiology, Sleep Science and physiological basis of Yoga Therapy. He has been felicitated by several awards including prestigious UGC National Research Award. The area of his research is Neurophysiology, Sleep Science, Cardiovascular Science and Neuro-immunology.
