Abstract

With few simplifying but reasonable assumptions, some mathematical aspects of electroinitiated polymerization has been discussed in this research. The mathematical relationship between electrolysis current and the initial rate of free radical polymerization was derived. In the case of free radical polymerization, the initial rate was proportional to the half power of electrolysis current. The relationship between electrolysis current and the average degree of polymerization was also derived. Here, the mathematical relationship between electrolysis current and kinetic chain length for direct current control of a polymerizing system was also deduced.
