Abstract

The rapid growth of mobile payment systems has transformed the way consumers carry out everyday financial transactions. Mobile wallets, QR-code payments, banking applications, and instant payment platforms have made transactions faster, more convenient, and increasingly cashless. While these systems offer significant benefits in terms of accessibility and ease of use, they may also influence how consumers perceive and spend money. This study examines the influence of mobile payment systems on consumer habits, particularly spending behaviour, impulse purchasing, budgeting, frequency of transactions, and preference for cashless payments. The study adopts a descriptive research approach and proposes the collection of primary data through a structured questionnaire administered to users of mobile payment applications. Existing literature suggests that the convenience and reduced physical visibility of money in mobile transactions may lower the psychological hesitation associated with spending and encourage frequent or unplanned purchases. At the same time, mobile applications provide transaction histories and spending records that can support better financial monitoring. The study therefore highlights both the positive and negative behavioural consequences of mobile payments. It concludes that mobile payment systems are not merely technological tools for completing transactions but have become an important factor influencing modern consumer behaviour.
