Abstract
Blood Group in human is completely & unchangeable identity. Blood group antigens are genetically determined and are inherited as Mendelian determinants. The relationship between ABO blood group and are associate with various diseases for example gastric cancer periodontal disease and Venus thrombosis. Some author found that epistaxis is commonly seen in people with O blood due to there is a low expression of Von Willebrand factor (vWf) causing a relative bleeding tendency. Haemostasias refers to the natural physiological mechanism that prevents and stops bleeding, thereby maintaining vascular integrity. The objective of the study was to assess the relationship between bleeding time and clotting time among various blood groups and to identify any gender difference among the same.
Our study included 300 MBBS students (180 males and 120 females) in the age group of 17–21 years. The blood grouping was carried out with the standard antisera, and bleeding time and clotting time were estimated by Duke method and capillary glass tube method respectively. Finally, bleeding time and clotting time of different blood groups were compared and statistical analysis was carried out.
Results: Blood group O was the most common blood group in both genders followed by B, A, and AB. Bleeding time in relation with blood group was found to be statistically insignificant. Also, clotting time in relation within blood group was found to be statistically non-significant. Similarly, gender-wise bleeding time in relation with blood group was found to be statistically insignificant. Also, clotting time in relation within blood group was found to be statistically non-significant and clotting time was also statistically insignificant.
