Abstract

Introduction: Violent deaths, particularly homicides, are a major public health concern in Nairobi, Kenya. Nairobi City Mortuary, the largest forensic autopsy center, handles diverse cases from the city and surrounding regions. This study aims to fill gaps in understanding homicide deaths by analyzing autopsy data on age, gender, and injury mechanisms.
Objective: This study aims to identify patterns of homicide deaths in Nairobi by examining age, gender, and injury mechanisms. It seeks to determine the most affected age groups and genders, identify predominant injury types (e.g., gunshots, blunt trauma, stabbings), and offer recommendations for reducing violent deaths based on these findings.
