Abstract

Aim: The present study aimed to evaluate the physicochemical properties, fluorescence characteristics, and preliminary thin-layer chromatography (TLC) analysis of Culcasia falcifolia leaves.
Methods: The physicochemical parameters were evaluated which includes determination of the values of total ash, acid-insoluble ash, water-soluble ash, sulphate ash, water-soluble extractive value, alcohol-soluble extractive value, and loss on drying. Fluorescence analysis of the leaf powder was performed under visible light and ultraviolet light at 254 and 366 nm following treatment with different chemical reagents. Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) of the ethanol leaf extract was carried out using ethyl acetate, formic acid, acetic acid, and water (100:11:11:26, v/v/v/v) as the mobile phase.
