Abstract: – Study of the composition assessment and description of the log-facies are powerful tools for defining and assessing hydrocarbon carrying areas. In this article, petrophysical assessment of well log data from a suite of four wells (Y 05 and 06) in the study area was carried out by combining traditional log analysis and cluster analysis of some reservoirs in the Niger Delta basin Y sector, Nigeria. The approach is based on traditional methods of assessment of development, and techniques of cluster analysis. Cluster analysis of different log properties is created to classify the variation in lithology and the form of pore fluid.The final production is a compilation of petrophysical curves, fluid form and fluid interactions, and measurement of neutron–cluster mass. Eight lakes are delineated and found to be intermixed predominantly with shale sandstones. Neutron-Cross-plot examination of density showed the concentration of crude, gas or brine in all wells. Gas bearing region has shown very large cross over for curves with neutron intensity and is also accompanied by very strong resistivity. Many lakes consist mainly of oil or water, including brine.From the results the reservoirs for hydrocarbon output are prolific and feasible. This research has shown that the incorporation of traditional log analysis and cluster analysis in assessing the production capacity of hydrocarbon reservoirs are reliable approaches.
