COVID-19 Outbreak Anxiety: Attitude and Preventive Actions of Filipino Teachers in Shaanxi, China

Abstract – The novel-coronavirus disease is presently a global health threat and civic health emergency of worldwide concern. China is doing its best to control and implement measures necessitated by the current situation of COVID-19. Filipino Teachers in Shaanxi China are in no exemption in dealing with COVID-19 anxiety and other pressing challenges. Despite a better condition during the pandemic, Filipino teachers are still observing preventive actions related to COVID-19. An online survey was designed to collect the perceptions of the Filipino teachers in Shaanxi China about attitude and preventive actions in dealing with anxiety. Results showed that Filipino teachers foster a positive attitude in spite of the drastic changes in the community and even staying in China during and after post-outbreak. Further results revealed that preventive actions are being observed by the Filipino teachers when they are in public places to deal with COVID-19 anxiety even it’s in the post-outbreak. Moreover, there was no gender divide established across the investigated variables. The study relied primarily on self-assessed experiences of Filipino teachers and future studies may involve a larger population, other nationalities and with comparison to the citizens as respondents.
