Abstract

Blended Learning is increasingly used to describe the way e-learning, combining with traditional classroom methods and independent study to create a new, hybrid teaching methodology. It is one of the mandatory methods of teaching in the classroom to provide students with new learning strategies and methods as well as ensuring the education system itself is in line with the current changes in education. It has wider opportunities for learners in collaborative learning, constructive learning and computer assisted learning (CAL). Blended learning needs rigorous efforts, right attitude, handsome budget and highly motivated teachers and students for its successful implementation. As it incorporates diverse modes so it is complex and organizing it is not simple as usual and the rapid flow of globalization and the development of ICT today demand a change in the attitude and mindset of teachers/lecturers. The present paper discusses the fundamentals of blended learning, its important features and the structure, role of teacher and student in blended learning environment. The paper also covers assessment strategies, strengths and challenges of adopting blended learning teaching learning process.
