Abstract
This study investigates the impact of Smart Tourism Technologies (STTs) on Memorable Tourist Experiences (MTEs) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, an emerging smart tourism destination in Southeast Asia. The study examines how four key dimensions of STTs; accessibility, informativeness, interactivity, and personalization, enhance the social, emotional, and cognitive aspects of tourist experiences. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected from 301 young travelers who visited eight major smart tourism attractions. The findings provide empirical evidence revealing a strong positive relationship between STTs and MTEs (r = 0.720, p < 0.001), with the model explaining 51.8% of the variance (R² = 0.518). Among the dimensions, personalization emerged as the most influential predictor, followed by informativeness and interactivity, while accessibility was not statistically significant. The current evidence provides empirical evidence of the strategic role of STTs in shaping a sustainable and competitive smart tourism environment, and offering valuable insights for destination managers and policymakers in advancing Malaysia’s Smart Tourism 4.0 initiative.
