Abstract
In recent times, many Church leaders have misinterpreted the concept and dynamics of Church Growth. They lack the full understanding of its implications, though familiar with the term “Church Growth”. Many Church leaders believe that the membership of their Churches would increase because of their hard work and prayer, without giving the Holy Spirit the needed attention in the Church.
Many Churches have relied on their own efforts without any outcome, thinking they can grow a church by their hard work, and even the way some of our leaders (Pastors) invoke the Holy Spirit as if the jurisdiction of the Holy Spirit lies in their hands, has led some members loosing essence of the indwelling and power of the Holy Spirit.
This project seeks to explain who the Holy Spirit is and how the Holy Spirit can be the precursor of Church Growth, studying from the Acts of the Apostles.
However, it is concluded that church cannot grow effectively as in the sense of ‘total growth’ without the workings of the Holy Spirit. Therefore it is crucial for Christians to have deep fellowship with the Holy Spirit through spontaneous Prayers and Bible Studies in order to be endued with the Holy Spirit’s Power from on high both as individuals and collectively as a church.
