Community Participation of Beneficiaries, Institutional Support, And Implementation of Integrated Social Forestry Program of a Public Office

This study determined the levels of community participation of beneficiaries, institutional support, and implementation of the Integrated Social Forestry Program (ISFP) of a public office, as well as the relationships among these variables. Specifically, it assessed community participation of beneficiaries in terms of planning, decision-making, program implementation, and monitoring and evaluation; institutional support in terms of technical assistance, training and capacity-building, financial and material support, and monitoring and supervision; and ISFP implementation in terms of lot development, land tenure, and environmental protection. The study employed a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design and utilized a researcher-made questionnaire that underwent expert validation and reliability testing. The respondents were qualified ISFP beneficiaries from three selected People’s Organizations in the Negros Island Region. Findings revealed very high levels of community participation of beneficiaries, institutional support, and ISFP implementation. The results further showed that community participation of beneficiaries had no significant relationship with ISFP implementation, while institutional support had a significant positive relationship with ISFP implementation. The study concluded that institutional support is significantly associated with ISFP implementation. Thus, concerned public offices and partner institutions are encouraged to sustain and strengthen technical assistance, training and capacity-building, financial and material support, and monitoring and supervision to enhance the implementation and long-term sustainability of the Integrated Social Forestry Program.
