Abstract

This study determined the relationship among behavioral competence, emotional quotient, work-life balance, and instructional performance of public secondary school teachers in one of the Schools Divisions in the Negros Island Region during the School Year 2025–2026. A quantitative descriptive-correlational research design was employed among Junior High School and Senior High School teachers using standardized questionnaires and Classroom Observation Tool (COT) ratings. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman Rho Correlation. The findings revealed that teachers demonstrated high behavioral competence and emotional quotient, very good work-life balance, and very satisfactory instructional performance. Behavioral competence and emotional quotient showed significant positive relationships with instructional performance, while work-life balance exhibited a significant but weak positive relationship. The study concludes that behavioral competence, emotional quotient, and work-life balance are significant factors associated with teachers' instructional performance. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening teachers' professional competencies, emotional well-being, and work-life balance through sustainable support mechanisms. Based on the results, a division-wide enhancement program was proposed to improve teachers' instructional performance and overall professional development.
