Enhancing Academic Resource Access Via QR Code Wall Library: An ADDIE Approach in a Hadith Research Laboratory

Abstract
The Hadith Research Laboratory at the Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies (FPQS), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) provides physical access to primary Hadith literature to support hands-on learning. However, challenges such as limited physical space, missing or damaged book volumes, high acquisition costs, and the absence of dedicated library personnel impede seamless academic access. To enhance resource availability without heavy infrastructure investments, this study developed and evaluated a physical-digital hybrid "QR Code Wall Library" using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) instructional model. Needs analysis involving subject matter experts identified key Hadith texts, which were integrated with shortened digital URLs and custom QR codes. A total of 53 student researchers participated in the usability evaluation. Findings indicated that 54.7% of respondents preferred digital reference methods over manual physical browsing (45.3%). Overall user satisfaction reached 73.1%. The usability metrics confirmed that the QR Code Wall Library significantly enhanced access efficiency (81.1% reported increased productivity), interaction effectiveness (75.4% found the system clear and understandable), and ease of use (77.4%). This study demonstrates that combining physical wall displays with QR code technology effectively bridges classical Islamic text repositories with modern mobile learning, serving as a scalable solution for academic resource centers.
