Abstract

This study examined the use of the Numeracy Kit Booklet (NKB) as a remedial instructional material to strengthen the numeracy skills of Grade 2 learners at Banicain Elementary School, Olongapo City. Using a one-group pre-test/post-test design, learners’ baseline performance was measured through the Rapid Mathematics Assessment (RMA), followed by intervention sessions utilizing the NKB, and a subsequent post-test to assess learning gains. Results showed measurable improvement, with learners progressing from low proficiency in the pre-test to nearly proficient in the post-test. Teacher validation affirmed the NKB’s usability, content quality, and instructional design. While statistical analysis indicated significant differences between pre-test and post-test scores, practical significance was also observed through gain scores and proficiency shifts across domains. Given the absence of a control group, findings are interpreted as exploratory evidence of the NKB’s potential effectiveness, warranting replication with more rigorous designs.
