Entrepreneurship and the Path to Globalizing Jamdani Weaving: Tradition, Innovation, and Sustainable Digital Practices

Abstract
Traditional craft industries are rapidly transforming as digital technologies advance, sustainability becomes a central global concern, and consumer preferences shift toward ethical and heritage-based products. Jamdani weaving is recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity which represents both the challenges and opportunities facing cultural industries in this changing landscape. This study explores how Jamdani weaving can achieve sustainable globalization through cultural entrepreneurship, digital empowerment, sustainable production models, and human-centered innovation inspired by the principles of Industry/Business 5.0. Using a strengthened qualitative methodology based on critical thematic synthesis, the study analyzes scholarly literature, institutional reports, and contemporary industry insights. Four major drivers of Jamdani’s global future are identified: (1) cultural entrepreneurship as a mechanism for value creation, (2) digital platforms as catalysts for global visibility, (3) sustainability as a competitive advantage consistent with SDG priorities, and (4) Business 5.0 as a human-centric paradigm integrating technology with artisanship. A visual conceptual framework is proposed to integrate these domains. The study concludes that Jamdani’s evolution into a globally competitive creative industry requires coordinated action across entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, ethical innovation, and policy support.
