Abstract

This study proposes an alternative approach to ideal body care based on the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, particularly through the dietary combination of fresh dates (rutab) and cucumber within the framework of the hot-cold concept, or temperamental balance. In the context of Tib al-Nabawi, foods are classified according to hot or cold elements as embedded in the hadith and the practices of the Messenger of Allah SAW. The research problem centers on the lack of a systematic scientific model to explain how this Sunnah-based food combination functions in balancing bodily homeostasis and achieving an ideal body form. The main objective of this study is to formulate a holistic dietary model based on the Sunnah of the Prophet that integrates physiological, nutritional and spiritual elements. The research methodology employs a qualitative-descriptive approach based on a critical literature study of prophetic hadith, especially in Tib al-Nabawi, classical medical sources and contemporary scientific findings in the field of nutrition. The findings show that fresh dates have potential as an immediate source of energy through their natural carbohydrate, fiber, mineral and bioactive component content, while cucumber has the potential to support hydration, electrolyte balance and low-calorie intake. The combination of both has the potential to provide metabolic support and dietary balance, although it does not function as the main source of calories. This model emphasizes that diet based on the hot-cold concept can be adapted according to an individual's bodily condition, whether hot, cold, thin, or overweight and can contribute to systemic bodily balance. The implications of this study not only offer a new discourse in Islamic health sciences but also provide a scientific basis for Sunnah dietary practices that are aligned with the principle of balance in nutritional science and classical medicine. It also opens space for integration between tradition and science in shaping a healthy lifestyle rooted in Islamic spiritual and cultural values.
