Abstract

This study is titled “Problem-Solving, Numeracy Rate and Academic Performance of Senior High School Students”. It examined the relationship between Grade 11 Academic Track students’ problem-solving perception, numeracy rate, and academic performance in General Mathematics at a public senior high school in Negros Island Region during school year 2025-2026. A descriptive-correlational research design was employed to determine the levels of the variables and their interrelationships. Findings revealed that students demonstrated a high level of problem-solving perception, with interest and pride as the highest indicator, while enjoyment and positive feelings obtained the lowest but still within a high level. The respondents also showed a proficient level of numeracy, with subtraction as the strongest skill and division as the weakest. In terms of academic performance, students obtained a very satisfactory level in General Mathematics, indicating consistent academic achievement. Furthermore, results revealed significant relationships between problem-solving perception and academic performance, and between numeracy rate and academic performance. These findings suggest that both cognitive skills and students’ perceptions play important roles in mathematics achievement. The study concludes that enhancing problem-solving perception and numeracy skills may contribute to improved academic performance in General Mathematics among Senior High School students.
