Abstract

This paper discusses the origin of the Santals, their conditions and experiences during the colonial period, Santal movements, morality in Santal society, the emergence of a new Santal identity, their culture and social organization, and the contemporary challenges and opportunities faced by the Santal community. The study looks at the Santals' origins, migration, colonial experiences, resistance activities, cultural practices, and current issues using secondary material from books, journal articles, census statistics, and historical documents. The results suggest that despite marginalization, land dispossession, and socioeconomic exclusion, the Santal community has demonstrated incredible resilience in maintaining its cultural heritage. This paper mainly discusses the history of the Santal community in Bangladesh.
