Abstract
Ports play a vital role in national economic development by facilitating trade and logistics activities. Beyond performing formal job responsibilities, port employees often engage in discretionary behaviours known as Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB), which contribute to operational effectiveness, teamwork, and service reliability. This study aims to examine the direct effect of leadership support on OCB among Malaysian port employees and to investigate the mediating roles of job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Specifically, the study proposes a serial mediation model in which leadership support enhances job satisfaction, which subsequently strengthens organizational commitment and ultimately promotes OCB. A quantitative cross-sectional survey design will be employed using structured questionnaires administered to employees from selected Malaysian ports. Data will be analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) to test both direct and indirect relationships among the constructs. The findings are expected to provide practical guidance for port authorities in developing supportive leadership practices and employee-centred initiatives that foster voluntary work behaviours. The study also contributes to the limited literature on OCB within the Malaysian port context by empirically examining the psychological mechanisms underlying citizenship behaviour.
