Abstract
This study explores the challenges and experiences of Filipino teachers teaching abroad, specifically in Arizona, focusing on their cultural adaptation, classroom management, and professional growth. Through qualitative research and thematic analysis, the study examines the lived experiences of Filipino educators, revealing key themes that highlight the complexities of adjusting to a new educational environment. The main themes identified include the challenges faced by teachers in Arizona, such as cultural and educational adjustments, classroom management issues, and communication barriers. Furthermore, the study investigates the strategies employed by teachers to manage disruptive behavior and engage diverse student populations, emphasizing the importance of culturally responsive teaching methods. The research also delves into the influence of Filipino teachers' cultural backgrounds on their instructional methods and interactions with students, highlighting the integration of Filipino educational values and traditions into the U.S. classroom. The study further examines the impact of teacher turnover on school climate and the role of intercultural competence in promoting global citizenship. Finally, the findings provide valuable insights for district superintendents, school heads, aspiring teachers, and undergraduate students, offering recommendations for improving teacher support, cultural adaptation programs, and professional development initiatives for those working in international educational contexts. This research contributes to the understanding of the intersection between culture, teaching practices, and classroom dynamics, providing a foundation for future studies on the experiences of international teachers. It also emphasizes the importance of cultural sensitivity and global perspectives in fostering an inclusive and effective learning environment.
