Abstract

Low problem-solving skill is a concern in mathematics education. The mediating role of ICT integration on use of visual representation - student mathematical word problem-solving skills correlation was explored. Descriptive-correlational research design, stratified random sampling in selecting 296 Grade 10 students, survey approach, and mediation analysis were applied in the study. Results revealed that the predictor-criterion correlation was not significantly mediated. The Dual Coding Theory was denied. Further research may be explored testing other potential variables as mediators. Teachers may divert to other means of learning and redirect educational resources for alternative methods.
