Abstract

The Read, React, Reflect (Triple R) strategy has been recognized as an effective instructional approach in enhancing students’ motivation, engagement, and participation in literature learning. This study examined the effectiveness of the Read, React, Reflect (Triple R) strategy in improving Grade 10 students’ motivation in learning El Filibusterismo during the School Year 2025–2026 in a selected school in Ozamiz City. A one-group pretest-posttest design was utilized through instructional sessions that incorporated reading activities, reflective responses, and interactive literature discussions. The participants were purposively selected and completed pretest and posttest assessments on motivation, engagement, and participation in learning El Filibusterismo. Statistical tools such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test were used to analyze the data. Findings revealed that before the implementation of the Triple R strategy, students demonstrated low levels of motivation, engagement, and participation in literature discussions. After the intervention, students’ motivation, engagement, and participation significantly improved. The results further revealed a statistically significant difference between the students’ scores before and after the implementation of the Triple R strategy. Read, React, Reflect (Triple R) strategy is an effective instructional approach for enhancing students’ motivation, engagement, and participation in learning El Filibusterismo. The study recommends using the Read, React, Reflect (Triple R) strategy in teaching El Filibusterismo to enhance students' motivation, engagement, and participation.
