Abstract

This study examines the influence of workload, work environment, and work facilities on job performance among officers in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), with organizational commitment proposed as a moderating variable. Grounded in the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) model, workload is conceptualized as a job demand that may negatively affect job performance, while work environment and work facilities are viewed as job resources that enhance motivation, effectiveness, and productivity. Organizational commitment is expected to moderate these relationships by strengthening or weakening the effects of job demands and resources on performance. A quantitative research design is proposed using a sample of 248 officers from a population of 600 PDRM personnel. Job performance is conceptualized as a multidimensional construct comprising task and contextual performance. The study addresses key operational challenges in PDRM, including rising service demands and accountability pressures, and is expected to contribute to both theory and practice by extending the JD-R model and informing evidence-based human resource strategies to improve police performance and service delivery.
