Abstract
In the world of business today, where everything is based on competition and high performance from employees, the comfort and wellness of employees at work have a significant impact on commitment and performance. This study examined the correlation between the workplace environment and training and development on workers' productivity. The level of the workplace environment was measured using four dimensions: Physical Atmosphere, Psychological factors, Organizational Culture, and Leadership Style. The extent of training and development was measured using three indicators, namely: Skills and Training, Leadership Development, and Career Development. While the level of Worker's Productivity was measured by Quality of Work, Quantity of Work, and Timeliness of Work.
The study involved 80 respondents working at the General Santos City Airport and the Port of General Santos City. Quantitative research design, particularly descriptive and correlational, was used in the study. Leadership style was found to be the highest-rated indicator of the workplace environment (M=4.07), suggesting that supervisors and managers are viewed positively for how they plan, communicate, support, and consider the needs of their team members. Skills training received the highest mean score in training and development (M=4.07), demonstrating the necessity of skills for employability and improved productivity in service-based industries. Timeliness of Work was the highest-rated indicator under Employee's Productivity (M=4.15), indicating that employees are effective in managing their time, meeting deadlines, and starting tasks on their own. A strong correlation was observed between Workplace Environment and Employee's Productivity (R = 0.6256, p = 0.0000), providing sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis. This suggests that if the work environment is better, employee productivity usually follows to a certain degree, and more productive employees, by nature, are better at their jobs.
