Abstract
This study assessed the level of skills in stenography among Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) students at Tangub City Global College (TCGC) during the Academic Year 2025–2026. Anchored on Paul Fitts and Michael Posner’s Skill Acquisition Theory, the study evaluated four core areas of stenography skills: dictation, reading, writing, and transcription. The study employed a quantitative descriptive research design and included the total population of 93 fourth-year BSOA students as respondents. Data were gathered using an adopted and modified, pilot-tested, and validated four-point Likert scale questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using weighted means to determine the respondents’ level of skills in each area. The findings revealed very high levels of dictation skills (3.41), reading skills (3.33), and writing skills (3.35), all interpreted as “Strongly Agree.” Transcription skills obtained a grand mean of 3.24, interpreted as “Agree,” indicating a high level of skill. Overall, the respondents obtained a grand mean of 3.33, indicating a very high level of stenography skills. Among the four areas, transcription skills obtained the lowest grand mean, suggesting that additional practice may be beneficial, particularly in proofreading, transcription speed, and accuracy. The findings provide a basis for strengthening instructional activities and practice opportunities in stenography.
