Abstract
A random control trial (RCT) was used to compare the effects of 12 week aerobic moderate-intensity brisk walking at 60% heart rate and aerobic vigorous-intensity jogging at 75% heart rate on non-physically active adults with mild-hypertension in Urban area of Anambra state, south east, Nigeria. 21 adults with mild-hypertension were assigned randomly into 3 groups consisting of brisk walking treatment group, jogging treatment group and control group to compare the mean difference at pre-test and post-test on their systolic and diastolic blood pressure. ANCOVA was used by the study to test for significant difference in hypothesis at 0.05% margin of error. In conclusion, the study revealed that aerobic moderate-intensity brisk walking proved to be more effective in treating systolic and diastolic pressure among mild-hypertensives compared to aerobic vigorous-intensity jogging. However, the study also reveled that there was no significant difference between these exercise protocols.
