Abstract

This study explores the future of guidance counseling in the Tarlac Province, examining the perspectives of 100 guidance practitioners on emerging trends and their implications. Driven by technological advancements, legislative changes (R.A. 11927, R.A. 11899, R.A. 12080), and increasing mental health awareness, the field is undergoing significant transformation. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining structured interviews with five experienced counselors and a survey of 100 practitioners. Qualitative data revealed key themes regarding anticipated scenarios, threats (e.g., increasing case complexity, resource limitations, ethical dilemmas with technology integration, counselor burnout), and opportunities (e.g., decreasing stigma, enhanced recognition of counseling’s role, expanded access via technology). Quantitative analysis using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) confirmed these themes, identifying factors such as "Technology-Driven Counseling Innovation," "Systemic and Ethical Constraints," and "Evolving Social Perceptions and Client Empowerment." The study proposes strategies for managing threats (e.g., enhancing digital literacy, developing policies, securing funding, establishing support networks) and maximizing opportunities (e.g., continuous professional development, strategic technology integration, promoting inclusivity). The findings highlight the need for a multifaceted approach to navigate the evolving landscape of guidance counseling, ensuring that services remain accessible, ethical, and effective in meeting the diverse needs of Filipino students and communities.
