Abstract
This study examined the predictive influence of Disaster Risk Reduction Education (DRRE) and student preparedness on resilience among high school learners in New Bataan, Davao de Oro. Grounded in Protection Motivation Theory, the study employed a quantitative predictive-correlational design involving 304 Grade 10 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a validated survey questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Spearman’s rho correlation, and multiple linear regression. Results revealed high levels of DRRE (M = 3.66), student preparedness (M = 3.62), and student resilience (M = 3.70). Significant positive relationships were found between DRRE and student resilience (ρ = .816, p < .001) and between student preparedness and student resilience (ρ = .774, p < .001). Multiple regression analysis further showed that DRRE and student preparedness significantly predict student resilience (R² = .795, p < .001), with DRRE emerging as the stronger predictor. The findings highlight the importance of strengthening disaster risk reduction education and preparedness programs to enhance student resilience in disaster-prone communities.
