Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of guidance services and academic self-efficacy on the college readiness of students. Specifically, it examined the relationship between guidance services and academic self-efficacy and whether these variables significantly predict students’ college readiness. The study employed a quantitative correlational-regression research design and utilized an adopted survey instrument to gather responses from 319 first-year college students at the Monkayo College of Arts, Sciences, and Technology (MonCAST). The data were analyzed using mean scores, standard deviation, Pearson r correlation, multiple linear regression analysis, and the Sobel z-test. The findings revealed that students demonstrated a high level of guidance services, particularly in terms of orientation services, appraisal services, information services, educational services, placement services, referral services, and follow-up services. Likewise, the level of academic self-efficacy among students was found to be high, specifically in perceived control, competence, persistence, and self-regulated learning, indicating that these factors are important in preparing students for college. Furthermore, the results indicated that guidance services and academic self-efficacy have a significant relationship with students’ college readiness. Regression analysis revealed that both variables significantly predict college readiness, highlighting their important role in enhancing students’ preparedness for higher education. The study concludes that strengthening guidance services and promoting academic self-efficacy can help improve students’ readiness for college and support their academic success.
