Abstract
This concept paper addresses some challenges in L2 writing practices, hence, proposing a conceptual model that integrates Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) concept, social issues and AI-assisted learning tools. The model emphasizes how familiar, authentic content can stimulate idea generation, and how AI technologies provide additional support and feedback to sustain learner engagement. Grounded in CLIL’s concept, the paper outlines a pedagogical strategy - “Present issues, guide discussion, highlight language, apply AI, and produce writing” - designed to foster attention, relevance, and confidence in writing classrooms. Potential challenges such as over-reliance on technology and sensitivity of selected topics are acknowledged, however, the proposed integration demonstrates teaching potential in improving learners’ motivation and competence. Consequently, this framework contributes to innovative and creative teaching practices to enhance L2 writing.
