Dr. Otapo Toyin Waliu was born in Mushin Lagos, Nigeria in 1970, he attended Akilo Primary School Agege and Dairy Farm Secondary School Agege for his primary and secondary school educations. He proceeded to Ogun State Polythecnic Abeokuta (now Moshood Abiola Polythecnic) and bagged an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Accountancy with an Upper Credit in 1990. Dr. Otapo was admitted into Ogun State University Ago Iwoye Nigeria (now Olabisi Onabanjo University) in 1991 and graduated in 1995 as best graduating student in his set with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting second class upper division . He also bagged post graduate degrees of an MBA (2006), an M.Sc.in Banking and Finance (2008) and a Ph.D. in Banking and Finance (2017) all from Ekiti State University Ado Ekiti Nigeria. Dr. Otapo became an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in 2001 and presently an Examiner and Fellow of the Institute.
Dr. Otapo was a management staff of the defunct Omega bank Nigeria between 1998 and 2003 where he roseto the position of an Assistant Manager, he joined Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko Nigeria in 2003 as a lecturer in the department of Banking and Finance and presently a senior lecturer in the university, he was coordinator (head) of the department of Banking and Finance Adekunle Ajasin University between 2018 and 2019. Dr. Otapo passionately enjoys teaching and research, his research interest spans Comparative Banking, Management of Banks & Financial Institutions, Treasury Management and Bank Lending & Loan Administration, others are, International Banking & Finance, Finance in Non- Profit Organizations, Financial Inclusion and Financial Planning & Control. He has more than fifteen papers to his credit published in reputable international and domestic journals. Dr. Otapo is happily married with four Children.
